Ajša Mara Kacjan
is a visual and intermedia artist from Maribor, currently living in Rotterdam, where she is completing her studies in Transformative Design at the Willem de Kooning Academy. In 2025 she completed her exchange at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in the Cross-Disciplinary Strategies program.
Her practice merges performance, technology, and social critique, with a strong focus on political emancipation and the interplay between analog and digital worlds. With a keen interest in pop culture and archival research, she creates works that critically address the impact of the digital world on both human and non-human species.
Her work has been shown in group exhibitions at Buitenplaats Brienenoord (Folkloresque, 2024), Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Era of Coming Apart, 2023), and S/ash Gallery (I Love That Movie), with additional participation in the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2024 and Movies that Matter 2023. In 2024 and 2025, she co-developed the program for International Homeless Day in Rotterdam in collaboration with Pauluskerk. The Spit, a group AR project presented at the Postsparkasse in Vienna, paid tribute to Austrian artist and professor Peter Weibel; We Are Ghost Workers followed in September 2025, presented at the Platforma Contemporary Dance Festival.
Alongside her exhibition practice, Kacjan hosts Psst, Monuments Are Talking!, a radio show launched in 2025 at Radio WORM in Rotterdam, now five episodes in. Most recently, she participated in Nexus (2026), a group exhibition and auction, with the work compress, dissolve, remain.
